FAQ about public holidays in Bavaria
How many public holidays does Bavaria have?
Bavaria has twelve statewide statutory public holidays. In addition, Augsburg Peace Festival and Assumption Day are important regional holidays.
Is Assumption Day a public holiday everywhere in Bavaria?
No. Assumption Day is statutory only in municipalities with a predominantly Catholic population, so the local municipality matters.
Are Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day public holidays in Bavaria?
No. They are observances and not automatically days off. They are shown separately from statutory public holidays.
